Koopsta Knicca is best known for his diverse style of rap and as one of the original members of the Academy Award winning Memphis rap group, Three 6 Mafia, which was formed in 1991, alongside DJ Paul, Lord Infamous, Juicy J, Crunchy Black, and Gangsta Boo. Some of the group’s well-known singles/videos released early in their career includes Tear Da Club Up, Late Nite Tip, and Who Run It.

Koopsta released is first solo album, Da Devil’s Playground in 1994 and was re-released in 1999. In 2000, Koopsta left Three 6 Mafia due to being in trouble with the law leading to breach of contract. He continued his work as a solo artist, releasing serveral projects such as: Da K Project (2002), Undaground Muzic, Vol. 1 (2003), De Inevitable (2004), The Mind Of Robert Cooper (2005), A Murda ‘N Room 8 (2010), Decepticon: The Return Of The Gods (2012), Aliens vs Humans (2013), and Skrewged (2013).

In 2013, Koopsta Knicca, DJ Paul, Lord Infamous, Gangsta Boo, and Crunchy Black reunited as Da Mafia 6ix and released a mixtape titled 6ix Commandments on November 12, 2013. This mixtape was almost entirely produced by DJ Paul and featured Krayzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Point Blank, 8Ball & MJG, SpaceGhostPurrp, Yelawolf, Lil Wyte, Kingpin Skinny Pimp, LaChat, and a surprise appearance by Juicy J and Project Pat. The mixtape was so well-recieved, that it later got a retail release.

Unfortunately, only after being united as Da Mafia 6ix for a few months, Lord Infamous passed away of a heart attack on December 21, 2013. In the Spring 2014, Gangsta Boo decided to leave the group. DJ Paul explained it saying, “It was what we thought was going to be best for everybody. It just happened. Nobody forced nobody. It was a gut feeling.”

The remaining members of Da Mafia 6ix continued on touring and making music. On September 2, 2014, Da Mafia 6ix and Insane Clown Posse released a collaboration album titled Reindeer Games under the name The Killjoy Club. On October 30, 2014, Da Mafia 6ix released another mixtape titled Hear Sum Evil. This mixtape also features production by DJ Paul, and featured artists such as: Fiend, LaChat, DJ Zirk, Lil Wyte, Paul Wall, MJG and new verses by Lord Infamous. On March 6, 2015, Da Mafia 6ix released their new album Watch What U Wish.

On October 4, 2015, Koopsta suffered a major stroke. He was hospitalized and put on life support.

On October 9, 2015, he was removed from life support and passed away at 12:55am CST.
